Tuesday 19th December - North Hants
42 intrepid golfers assembled just after 7am on a cold and frosty morning, many having let home at the crack of dawn. However after a hearty breakfast and clad in thermals, all ventured out into the winter wonderland.
An element of luck and course management came into play with the prime aim of avoiding the bunkers if at all possible. By half way the sun had risen sufficiently to make playing somewhat more conducive albeit the sight of the clubhouse proved welcome.
Members played for the David Squire Trophy and top of the tree came Mike Davis with 34 points followed by Bryn Aldridge with 32points. Well done to both given the trying conditions. The team prize was claimed by Messrs Revolta, Aldridge and Bullock with 71points.
The three-course carvery lunch was up to its usual high standards with helpful and attentive staff.
The day concluded with the traditional raffle and auction ably conducted by Paul Keen which raised in total £1415 which will be put directly into the Centenary Fund. Further thanks are owed to John Thompson for securing the hampers as prizes and also to all of you and guests who contributed to making the day so successful.
We will be returning again next year and this and the rest of the fixtures/dates will be advised shortly.
Seasons greetings to all.
